International Female Students Hackathon

Wednesday 12th of May – Thursday 13th of May

Who: Female students enrolled in STEM, computer science or business related faculties in Switzerland and Serbia
Language: English
Location: Zoom

Did you know, that cyber security jobs are among the fastest growing career areas globally? In the US, cyber security jobs are expected to see a 10 year growth of 31% by 2029, far surpassing the growth expected in other sectors. The U.K. will need to hire 2 million additional engineers in order to satisfy the demand for cyber security specialists by 2025. Countries world over lack up to half of the cyber security candidates required to meet the current requirements for the field.

At the same time, the sector lacks diversity: Only 20% of people employed in cyber security are women. Considering both the sectors importance for economic development and in order to tackle this persistent talent gap in the field, we must do more to facilitate the equal involvement of women in the sector.

And that’s where you come in!

We are looking for female students from all faculties to take part in the hackathon. You do not need to have a background in cyber security or technology, simply a curiosity for the topic and what opportunities the field could entail. Since students with a variety of backgrounds will be taking part, you will each have the opportunity to contribute your own knowledge and combine your ideas and skills to deliver a holistic solution incorporating both business and technology perspectives.

Teams will be made up of a mix of students from different faculties in Switzerland and Serbia, giving you the opportunity to connect with likeminded peers internationally with diverse backgrounds, encouraging you to cooperate and learn from each other.

The event presents an excellent opportunity for talented female students like yourself to engage with our network of experts dedicated to empowering women through innovation and technology. We have a number of interesting speakers and companies participating in the event and are happy to count Microsoft and TeleGroup to the event’s main corporate patrons. Students will also have access to mentors, giving you much needed exposure to appropriate female role models in the field. You will also gain visibility towards our corporate partners and broader network, allowing you to learn about up-and-coming opportunities at leading companies in innovation and technology.

Are you keen to apply your skills and knowledge to develop solutions for a cyber security imperative?
Would you like to connect with likeminded peers, mentors and leading companies in technology and innovation?
Are you interested finding out more about career opportunities in the field?
