Hack#teen 2020 - The big day for future of girls in STEAM

The first hackathon for girls, which AFA is conducting in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Telecommunications and Telenor, was held for the second year in a row, this time in the Čolaković legacy, with the aim to contribute to the promotion and greater interest of girls in the natural sciences and professions of the future.

50 girls from all over Serbia, divided into 10 teams, participated in the competition. Mentors from different companies worked together with the participants and through practical work, they come up with the most innovative solutions reducing the gender gap in science and technology.

The main partner of the Hack#teen project, Telenor, supports and initiates projects that create digital solutions, with a clear goal of overcoming the current social challenges of Serbia. Among other things, it seeks to promote the positive aspects of the Internet with the aim of influencing the reduction of digital violence, while striving to provide education and help strengthen the capacity of young people, their parents, and teachers to make the Internet a positive experience for them.

Telenor's contribution is also reflected in solving problems caused by natural disasters, as well as in solving significant social, educational, cultural, and health needs at the national level.

In this regard, Telenor also supported Hack#teen - the first hackathon for girls, which is part of the AFA More girls in STEM project, aims to empower and inspire future generations of girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to be equally represented in the technological jobs of the future and participated in the creation of a new, digital civilization. The project is dedicated to promoting the importance of knowledge and education as the key to success and advancement in life.

Girls developed video games promoting education in different fields, and among them all inspiring ideas, three best have been announced as winners, with one special award, during Innovation Week conference day.

Hackteen is an event that is contributing to equal participation of women in science and technology so that they are equally involved in creating digital future.
